I was an active member of the Revere High School Literacy Team from 2012-2015, a teacher-led group that improves student literacy by aligning the efforts of the many school-wide initiatives with state and national standards and our teachers’ best practices.
Among many other projects, I spearheaded the years-long creation and revision of school-wide planning guides for interdisciplinary skills like Reading, Writing, Speaking & Listening, Language, Creative Problem Solving (below), and Civic & Social Responsibility. We align them not only with state and national standards but also with our faculty’s vision by eliciting and consolidating feedback from colleagues.
These have been compiled in a format that allow teachers to easily select the parts of each guide that are relevant to a particular lesson which can be found here.
I also designed agendas and accessory materials for Principal’s Meetings and Professional Learning Group meetings that centered on literacy. Lastly, I assisted the school’s Literacy Coach in creating, acquiring and organizing of literacy tools on our website.
